Tourist Schengen Visa: Traveling to Europe for Tourism

A Schengen visa is a short-stay visa that allows a person to travel to any members of the Schengen Area on https://www.schengenvisainfo.com/, per stays up to 90 days for tourism or business purposes.

The Schengen visa is the most common visa for Europe. It enables its holder to enter, freely travel within, and leave the Schengen zone from any of the Schengen member countries. There are no border controls within the Schengen Zone.

However, if you are planning to study, work, or live in one of the Schengen countries for more than 90 days, then you must apply for a national visa of that European country and not a Schengen Visa.

How to Apply for a Visa to Enter Europe?

Schengen Tourist Visa Requirements from India – Europe Visa

To apply for a Schengen Visa to travel to Europe, you first need to figure out whether you need one or not depending on the purpose of your travel and nationality. If you do, then you have to put together your travel plan, how many days you plan to be in the zone, the countries you are going to visit (if more than one), the country where you are going to enter, and the country where you’re going to exit.

Once you have that figured out, then you need to review all the Europe visa application requirements you need to fulfill and start the process of setting up a visa appointment at one of the Schengen consulates in your country.

How Much Does a European Visa Cost?

The cost of a Schengen visa fee is €60 per adults. Still, depending on the age of the applicant, nationality and some other factors, there are categories that will have to pay a lower fee or no fee at all.

Schengen Visa Fees:

When applying for a Schengen visa there is a non-refundable mandatory visa fee every applicant must pay.
The Schengen visa costs vary depending on the type of visa and age of the applicant as well as some other exceptions stated below in the text. The Schengen visa fee can be paid in the designated consulate/embassy via cash, debit or credit card. However, some consulates may not allow you to pay by credit card.
The Schengen visa application costs include the visa fees payable at the corresponding embassy/consulate when applying.

Despite of the fact that these fees are static and unchangeable until the Schengen members decide otherwise altogether, there are some categories exempt from paying this amount.

The visa fees may also be waived for participants aged 25 years or less in seminars, conferences, sports, cultural or educational events, organized by non-profit organizations. The decision will be made case by case according to the relevance of the event.

Again, in case the visa is denied there is no refund of the money paid.

What is a Flight Itinerary for EU Visa Application?

Flight itinerary is a confirmed document, which can be verified online about the schedule of a given flight. It contains your departure and arrival dates along with your Full name as per passport and flight confirmation/booking number/PNR number.

What is Travel Insurance for Schengen Visa?

Your Travel Medical Insurance should be valid for your whole stay in the Schengen Area, with a minimal coverage of 30,000 EUR for medical emergencies. You can get travel insurance for any insurance company. Travel insurance cost depends on the number of days you stay in Europe. In my case, I went to Europe for 15 Days and Travel insurance cost me around RS 1000.

What is a Proof of Accommodation for Visa application?

You are required to submit a confirmed document that shows where you will be accommodated for your whole trip in the Schengen Area. It could be hotel or address of your relatives or friends if you are going to stay with them. If yes, you need to supply supportive document. I would refer to book a cheap hotel from here and cancel later once you get visa.

Schedule An Appointment:

All applicants are required book an appointment online to submit their visa application at the Joint Schengen visa application center.

How to book an appointment:

Note:- Saturday appointments are available at Premium service charge. For further details please refer to additional services.
Please click here or contact +912267866023 to book an appointment.

Tip to avoid submitting company letter from HR, college letter or other proof:

When you apply for visa, in the application form there is column where you have to mention your occupation. You could we be working somewhere, or studying in any school/college. If you are working with a company, embassy will ask you to submit the NOC letter from company HR along with a copy of your company ID card. If you are studying in any college/school or taking cotching for any institute, they will ask you supportive document.

Sometimes, we work in a company and don’t wat to disclose our trip in office. So we can’t take NOC from HR. And getting NOC itself is a big hassle. And without this you can’t get visa.

In order to bypass this, in occupation column, you just need to write that you are pursuing for MBA/B.TECH/PHD etc through self study at home. By doing, you will not have to provide any documents.

  3. I also wrote a similar article, here: https://footloosedev.com/schengen-visa-for-indians-how-to-apply/ .... People always ask Which embassy should I lodge my visa application?

And I tell them that it will depend on the purpose of your trip or your overall European itinerary.

    The rule is:

    1) If you’re visiting just ONE country, apply at the embassy of that country.
    2) If you’re visiting multiple countries, apply at the embassy where you will be staying the longest. For example, if you plan to spend 3 days in the Netherlands, 3 days in Italy, and 5 days in France, apply at the French Embassy.

  8. There are a few factors which confuse applicants and their visa applications get rejected by a consulate. Let us explain what these factors are. Misinterpretation of a Schengen visa. There is no Schengen visa which is issued purely on the basis that the applicant wants to travel across the Schengen countries, you must choose your main destination and apply for your visa at the consulate/application centre of that country.
